O site Mediatraffic, que compila dados dos principais charts do mundo, publicou a lista dos discos mais vendidos em todo o mundo no período entre 17 de janeiro de 2009 e 09 de janeiro de 2010.

Obviamente, devido à comoção e a subsequente corrida às lojas após a sua morte, Michael Jackson é o artista com maior número de títulos na lista (8), enquanto o fenômeno Susan Boyle abocanhou o primeiro lugar. Outra curiosidade é a inclusão dos dois discos com as trilhas dos filmes da saga Crepúsculo - além de fazer os jovens devorarem livros, parece que também estão apresentando a música para uma grande parcela da juventude -, e a surpreendente e muito bem-vinda aparição dos Beatles entre os quarenta discos mais vendidos de 2009.
